March 17, 2021 – Los Angeles, CA – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is pleased to announce South Carolina Heat as its newest expansion club ahead of the Spring Season.

Based in Columbia, SC, South Carolina Heat will begin UPSL play in the Southeast Conference Mid-Atlantic Division. The club will host its home games at Southeastern Freight Lines Soccer Complex (115 Sunbelt Blvd, Columbia, SC 29203).

SC Heat is co-owned by Nick Lewis and Dean Smith and a branch of Sorinex FC, a multiple USASA Region III champion and two-time Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Qualifying Round finalist.

UPSL Vice President Christian Vallejos said, "We are excited to welcome South Carolina Heat to the Mid-Atlantic Division. The club has experience at the elite levels of the amateur game, and owners Nick Lewis and Dean Smith know the playing field in South Carolina. We're looking forward to having SC Heat as a new member and wish them success as they prepare to make their UPSL debut."

Lewis started Sorinex FC in 2015 and has won numerous league and regional titles. SC Heat will compete exclusively in the UPSL.

"SC Heat chose to play in the UPSL this season to give the best players in the Columbia area an opportunity to play for a great team at a higher level," said Smith, who serves as the General Manager. "Most of the best players in the area have played for Sorinex FC at one point or another, and we wanted to give them the opportunity to play for us at the next level."

SC Heat opens in the 2021 Spring Season against Myrtle Beach FC at Southeastern Freight Lines Soccer Complex at 6 p.m. ET on Saturday.
