January 6, 2020 – Los Angeles – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is pleased to announce MapleBrook 58ers as a member kicking off with the 2020 Spring Season.
Based in Maple Grove (Minn.), MapleBrook 58ers will begin UPSL play in the Midwest Conference West Division. The club will host its UPSL home games at Fernbrook Athletic Fields (14401 99th Ave. North, Maple Grove, MN 55369), a new $10.2 million development project with which the club is partner.
United Premier Soccer League National Director Matt Kahla said, "We are excited to have MapleBrook 58ers as a member of the UPSL's Midwest Conference. Owner Jean-Yves Viardin is a tremendous member of the Twin Cities soccer community, and his club is poised to take the next step and do so successfully. The Fernbrook Athletic Fields are a beautiful setting for the beautiful game, and a shining example of soccer's growth in the United States. We wish the 58ers the best of success as it prepares for the UPSL's 2020 Spring Season."
MapleBrook 58ers is the next step for the club, which has previous experience in the Twin Cities-based leagues. MapleBrook 58ers will compete exclusively in the UPSL.
Jean-Yves Viardin is General Manager and Co-Head Coach of MapleBrook 58ers. A coach with more than 18-years of both domestic and international experience, Viardin concurrently is Director of Coaching for MN Eclipse youth club, and General Manager and Head Coach of Maplebook Fury (WPSL).
MapleBrook 58ers General Manager Jean-Yves Viardin said, "The UPSL is a well-run and affordable league that will allow us to provide our college and former professional players with competitive training and games, and a pathway to the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup tournament."
Martin Browne, Jr., is Co-Head Coach of MapleBrook 58ers. A former player for MN United (NASL), and Mpls City (NPSL), Browne, Jr., is the Youth Director for MN Eclipse and the Boys Varsity Head Coach at Osseo (Minn.) High School.
Igor Stosic and Emmanuel Brown will serve as Assistant Coaches for MapleBrook 58ers. Catherin Parkill, a former United States Women's National Under-23 Team member, is the Goalkeeper Coach.
Maplebrook Soccer Club is a multi-tiered youth soccer club for players of all ages. The youth academy features multiple Minnesota State Cup champions in recent seasons – including last year's 2000 boys team - and more than 70 competitive teams overall. The club also operates a local grassroots recreational program for boys and girls of all ages.
The club will announce its upcoming game schedule.

United Premier Soccer League
The UPSL was formed in 2011 and currently includes more than 300 teams in Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin. UPSL is the fastest growing Pro Development League in the USA, with 500-plus teams targeted for 2020 Spring Season. Each UPSL team is individually owned and operated, and is responsible for maintaining either UPSL Pro Premier Division or Championship Division minimum standards.
UPSL teams are all eligible to participate in the U.S. Open Cup Qualifying Rounds through the leagues affiliation with the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
