February 9, 2020 - Miami Shores, FL - Maryland Bobcats FC proved that no matter the set back, the club will find a way to be successful.

Trailing for the second day in a row, Elton Joe scored twice - incuding the game-winner in overtime - as Maryland Bobcats FC defeated Santa Ana Winds, 3-1 (OT), to win the 2019 UPSL Fall Season National Final at Buccaneer Field on the campus of Barry University.

"We believe in each other. We don't just say it, we mean it," Maryland Bobcats midfielder Elton Joe said. "We knew we could win the UPSL Championship and we proved it by coming from behind to win two tough games in two days."

The victory capped the completion of an outstanding 13-1-0 Fall Season for Bobcats FC, who were 7-1-0 through the UPSL Northeast Mid-Atlantic North Division regular season before running through the UPSL Northeast Conference playoffs and taking over in South Florida.

Maryland Bobcats FC is the first Maryland-based club to be crowned UPSL champions.

"It's a great feeling. This is a great group of men who staying focused on their task. I can't say enough about the coaches, Phil Nana and everyone, for what they've done this season in the UPSL," Maryland Bobcats GM Evan Raimist said.

Santiago Vazquez gave Santa Ana Winds FC an early advantage, scoring with his head in the 14th minute for lead the team held unti late in the first half.

Joe, nicknamed "Rocket Man", took a great pass from teammate from Kay Banjo and pushed it past the goalkeeper for an equalizing goal for Maryland Bobcats FC in the 41st minute.

Playing in an intense, whipping wind, Santa Ana Winds FC maintained its hold on the match with outstanding midfield and wing play that kept the game open until legs tired in the club's second overtime game in two days. Winds defeated Foro SC, 4-2, in a shootout after 120 minutes on Saturday.

In the second overtime period, Joe took a slight touch on a through ball and best the backline before firing into the back of the net for the game-winner in the 106th minute. Bobcats FC's Levi Houapeu put a seal on the win with a goal in the 113th minute.
